In 1994, Pria Thacoor started her agency straight after university (where she did a bachelor degree and a post graduate degree in Marketing and Advertising Management), without any financial or business assistance. She has persistently and diligently worked her way to the business and corporate arena at the time where it was a completely male dominated world.
Few years later, P&P Link counted most of the top 100 companies in Mauritius on its client’s list and earned the respect of the business community in Mauritius. Pria, went to seek for the affiliation of Saatchi & Saatchi in London, the biggest and most respected advertising agency in the UK and became part of their worldwide network for 20 years.
P&P Link under the leadership of Pria has won over 50 local awards and has had her work recognised in Africa and the region by winning 15 awards including 5 Grand Prix in different African Advertising Festival. Pria is now known in the African communication arena and has been invited as Jury in the Amep Africa Festival in Mozambique and in the Cristal African Festival in Marrakech. She has also been the President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Mauritius for 2 consecutive years and is right now the Secretary of the Association of Communication Agencies. She regularly holds lectures and talks as as guest speaker on Communication, Entrepreneurship and Gender themes at Universities and Corporate events.
Pria, has always ensured that she contributes to her community and her country by doing what she knows best; she has helped various causes and created several campaigns to communicate on issues that she holds at heart- violence towards children and women, road accidents and Aids. This has led her continuous collaboration with Gender Links, Pils and various NGO’s. She has been invited several times to talk on social issues related to Women and Children in Gender Summit in South Africa as an example of voluntary communication work on these issues. P&P Link today, is known to be the agency that does most pro bono social campaigns in Mauritius.
In 2010, Pria and together with two other agencies launched a new concept in Mauritius, a media agency called Touchpoint, where she is a director and now the Chairperson. Touchpoint is now the biggest Media agency in Mauritius.
Her achievement in the business sector has also earned her merits such as the insignia of the Officer of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean (O.S.K,). In 2014, she has been recognised by a South African body and awarded Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business.
P&P Link has now celebrated its 28th anniversary and has grown to include more services such as Digital Communication and Social Media Management of brands.
