Sherif Lanre

Sherif Lanre is the Group Deputy Director of Strategy and Planning at SPV Communication Solutions, the Marketing Communications Agency for MTN Nigeria. In this role, he champions the creation and execution of Brand and communications Strategies, which create value and drive growth for MTN Nigeria through the line across the six agencies under SPV. These agencies are:
Advertising: TBWA, DDB West Africa, YBR Lagos
Digital: Playhouse Communication
Media: PHD Nigeria
Sponsorship & Experiential Marketing: EXP Marketing

In addition to his work with MTN, he has an impressive track record, having worked with various brands such as Spectranet, Etisalat, Keystone Bank, Dangote Cement, Seasoning & Salt, DanQ Seasoning, and the Lagos State Ministry of Education, etc.

He has received numerous local and international accolades for his outstanding campaigns. In 2015, he was honoured as the Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN) Future Leader in Marketing. His campaigns have earned the prestigious Campaign of the Year, Brand of the Year, Innovative Brand of the Year awards at the ADVAN Awards (2021 till date) and secured golds @thelaifawards. He was also one of the receivers of the @brandcommunicator 35 Under 35 Marketing Professional Award in 2022 for contributing to the industry's growth.

He is intelligently curious and has a keen interest in behavioural science (one of the few marketing professionals to be trained in the field of behavioural science in Africa). He believes that "brands can only grow exponentially when they embrace creativity, data, tech, local nuances and behavioural science". He has consistently leveraged this approach to develop winning strategies rooted in consumer insights, delivering remarkable and effective results.

Committed to fostering learning and professional growth, he founded Strategy Trybe, a community dedicated to nurturing and developing strategists in Nigeria and across Africa. He has trained over 500 strategists and marketing communication professionals through this platform. He also organised the first Strategists Hangout in Nigeria and Africa in 2020.
